Head, Regulatory Reporting at Stanbic IBTC Bank

We are recruiting to fill the following position:

Job Title: Head, Regulatory Reporting

Responsibilities
Management of the Regulatory reporting function.
Ensure that all external reporting requirements are timeously met, including preparation of periodic regulatory returns in compliance with GAAP, IFRS, CBN and other local regulatory reporting instructions.
Accountabilities
Strategy and objective setting
To understand and refine the requirements for statutory reporting for the Bank.
To complete and be responsible for delivering against own balanced scorecard in line with the Finance Division’s balanced scorecard.
Reporting
To review and take responsibility for all aspects of completion of the necessary statutory returns for presentation to the Head Technical Advice, including: Central Bank of Nigeria returns; and any other regulatory reports or returns as may be required from time to time.
To ensure that the information contained in the relevant reports is accurate and complete.
To ensure reports are ready in good time in order that they may be subject to the required levels of review prior to the reporting deadlines.
Day to day management of finance function
To assist with statutory reporting related queries where needed.
To manage day-to-day housekeeping of the statutory reporting function.
To do such other tasks as required by the Head, Finance from time to time.
Ancillary responsibilities
Reconciliation of MBR (efass) to Management account periodically.
Attend to all queries coming from the submitted efass returns, and other demands of regulators.
Directly responsible for the accuracy of the information contained in the bank's Trial Balance, by consistently reviewing for irregularities.
Attend to CBN annual routine audit, and ensuring that audit issues are attended to timeously.
Review and evaluate the accounting treatment of transactions by business units under local GAAP and CBN guidelines for purpose of advising on best practices.
Back up for group reporting function
Requirements
Qualified Accountant or degree in Finance.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
An understanding of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s regulations and reporting requirements.
An understanding of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Nigerian Accounting Standards (SAS)
Management experience.
Computer literacy and knowledge of personal computers and software packages such as MS Office suite applications and SAP.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Experience in change management and has the ability to positively lead change.
Strong leadership qualities.
Good analytical and interpretation skills.
Good planning and organizational skills – and ability to prioritise.
Dynamic, self-starter with a personal ambition to succeed – takes responsibility for own development.
Integrity.
Good communication (including listening) and presentation skills at all levels.
Commitment to customer service.
Willingness to get involved in detail, including attention to detail.
Management skills.
Provision of coaching and mentoring to line staff.
Ability to work in a team and to lead teams where necessary, including delivery of constructive feedback to teams and seeking constructive feedback from teams.
