ARISE Networks is a brand new global broadcaster recruiting for news centres in London, New York, Lagos and Johannesburg and across international news bureaux in Washington DC, Dakar, Nairobi, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Beijing, New Delhi and Los Angeles.

ARISE Networks is recruiting to fill the position of:



Job Title: Assistant Producer (Features)

Key Duties
To support the Producer(s) in all aspects of making programmes for the Channel – from the development and commissioning stages through to studio and location filming and post-production.
Provide back-up to the Producer(s) and, where required, assist in every aspect of content production, assuming any role delegated by the Producer(s).
The AP will be confident dealing with contributors and have a passion and drive to go that extra mile in order to outshine the competition.
He/she will enjoy the broad range of programme-making opportunities Arise will offer.
Undertake programme research and coordinate production teams in the UK or abroad.
Able to deputize for Producer(s) where necessary, including liaising with crew on location who may be ARIS staff or external providers of content – such as freelance producer/directors, production outfits etc.
Required to operate from the Channel’s London base, in studio and, as required, in the field, attend to administrative necessities (such as releases etc) and/or produce/direct content in lieu of the Producer(s) including conducting interviews.
Originate ideas, help identify programming requirements of the Channel, develop relationships with freelance contributors and production companies, and grow a database of international content providers.
To instinctively know the Arise brand and adhere to the ‘house style’ visually and editorially, maintaining accuracy and balance, and enterprising and rigorous journalism.
The applicant will be a team player for whom no job is too small, but who can ably step in for Producer(s) where necessary – either in the office, in studio or in the field - and deliver to a demanding brief, including in intensely high pressure situations.
Required Qualification
Educated to University degree standard.
Journalism qualification preferred.
Experience
At least 2-3 years’ television experience in a Current Affairs and/or documentary programming role with a major broadcaster at Assistant Producer level.
Edit production awareness/experience.
Creative flair.
Passion and enthusiasm for highly visual storytelling.
BBC, Channel 4, CNN credits.
Studio production experiences an advantage.
Writing ability.
Awareness and understanding of international affairs.
Experience of working overseas an advantage.
Knowledge of the Africa region.
A second language.
An aptitude for multi-skilling in all areas of television production, particularly shooting and editing.
A proven ability to work under pressure.
Commitment to Customer satisfaction.
